Why the name 'Les Ciseaux de Coco?'
My fan girl reference to Coco Chanel and the Atelier at 31 Rue de Cambon.

How long have I been sewing?

I learned how to use a sewing machine when I was a little girl. My Mum had a White and a vintage Singer with the pedal. I wanted to make Barbie outfits and crafts. I still use a zipper pouch I made as a kid... I loved the sewing classes in high school. Mrs. H was impressed with my hand stitching and this encouraged me to no end. I still have the pattern we used in class -- I made a peach knit top! Much later, my Dad gifted me my Janome machine in early 2000 because he decided to keep my mum's sewing machine to hem his pants after she died. In between babies I signed up for many tailoring classes including serging and bought a used Janome serger and have since added a Babylock Imagine to the mix.

Why am I blogging?
It's a fun way to keep track of my projects and share.

What inspires me to create my handmade closet?
I love knitting and wondering what to wear with the handknits reminded me of back in the day when Vogue Knitting Magazine used  to reference the Vogue sewing patterns used to make the garments paired with the knits in each issue. It gave me the idea of trying this myself!
